Division 1 women’s basketball college coaches are paid to coach basketball. That’s their job. 

But not only that, they are paid to be successful at their job. Being successful in college athletics means winning games. 

College coaching is not a full time job. It is beyond a full time job. It is a lifestyle. 

Nick Saban, Alabama’s Head Football Coach, retired from college football last week. 

I know this email newsletter is about basketball. However, when I became a college basketball coach, Nick Saban, was someone I wanted to be like. 

In December, I attended an after Christmas Tournament. One of the reasons I wanted to attend this particular tournament was to evaluate a player again. I saw this player and her team play in early November. 

During this second evaluation, I was able to see more of the player’s abilities that I was not able to see the first time watching.
