Coaching Philosophy: Patience

Great nuggets for a new coach or a coach with a young team— Have patience!!

“We have to be very patient because it is very important that we don’t go to fast……We have to be very patient in teaching and understanding of how we’ve got to be able to relate those things to our players for understanding…..It’s a process of us learning everyday.”

Fun and Competitive Basketball Dribbling Drill: Find a Ball, Find a Cone

Here is a dribbling drill I created to add some fun and competition during my training session. The players are working on dribbling the basketball from a standing position and low position. While dribbling the basketball, they are looking for a cone that has a racquetball in it. When they find a racquetball, they then take it to a cone that does not have a racquetball already in it.

In the drill, the players were told which hand to dribble the basketball with, to keep their dribble while picking up the cone, and the number times to find a racquetball before returning to their corner.
