This Bench Rocks!!!

I really enjoyed reading this story.. The theme of my last Granny’s Girls Basketball Camp was Have Fun!! As kids get older and play basketball longer, I think the less fun it becomes for the kids. There’s pressure coming from parents, coaches, media, etc……At the end of the day, basketball is a game. Whether you are in the game or at the end of the bench, enjoy the moment. Enjoy being with your teammates. Just have fun!

“When we write things on the board before the game, one of the things that’s been on there every game since I got here is: Have fun,” ……… “I truly think that 18-22-year-old college athletes should be having fun. They have their whole lives to be grownups. As grownups, sometimes, we don’t let them express themselves the way they want to.”

– Coach King Rich, Count Monmouth

Basketball Highlight: White Station – Arlington Play Days

I thought it would be cool to get a little creative for the first #MGBB Mix of the 2015-16 High School basketball season. The #MGBB Mix are highlight videos that I create of players around the Memphis area and post on www.MemphisGirlsBasketball.com. The highlights I create are about 2-4 minutes long. I really didn’t have an idea of how long this one would be but it came out to a little over 9 minutes.

So on November 7, I spent all day at the gyms of White Station and Arlington high schools recording footage from their play days. Because it was so much footage, it took me 2 weeks to edit. I had a general idea of what I wanted to create. Then of course, I had to make some adjustments to the ideas. It was a lot of work. A lot of long hours. However, I’m happy that I decided to try something different.

My “Awful” Sketch Comes to Life

“The people that was laughing saw an ugly picture.. I saw something totally different.”

A few weeks ago, I posted a “not so good” sketch of an idea that I had for my MemphisGirlsBasketball.com site. I had posted the sketch on Facebook and so many people laughed at the sketch. But the funny thing is — The people that was laughing saw an ugly picture.. I saw something totally different.

Here is the sketch:

This is what I was visualizing as I was drawing the sketch. (These are two pictures that I took during my Fall Exposure League)
